I am a native Austinite (one of the few) who was ambushed by Jesus Christ in 1973 and I have never been the same since.  I have been involved in Christian ministry in some capacity since I was seventeen years of age. I love being a pastor and realize how blessed I am to have this vocation. Red River is a great place to serve Christ and grow in grace. The people of this church were so loving and supportive during my first wife’s battle with cancer and ultimate passing.

On October 3, 2009, I married Melinda Peinado. Melinda is a professional actress and communicator who leads the arts ministry at Red River. Melinda is vibrant, intelligent, creative and beautiful. We love growing together, being together, learning together and serving together.

I am the proud father of three teens: Luke age 19, Alexandria age 17 and Sam age 15. They are wonderful kids who fill our lives with fun and challenge. We also parent Maddy, the world’s smartest Jack Russell Terrier.

I love playing the guitar and writing original songs. In 2004 I recorded Dwelling Place a CD based mainly on the Psalms. Favorite musicians/singers include David Wilcox, Bob Bennett, John Michael Talbot, Michael Card, Chris Tomlin and U2.

I am constantly reading. My favorite Christian authors include Dallas Willard, Eugene Peterson, Brennan Manning, Scot McKnight, Henri Nouwen and Thomas Merton. I also love reading non-fiction books of all kinds, with a novel thrown in occasionally. I hope to someday write a book on hearing the voice of God. Other interests include blogging, independent film, tennis and jazz.
