Guided Devotional and Song: Day 6- Hebrews 12
At the beginning of each session:
God is present with us. As a way for us to be also present with Him, take the next few moments to slow down and be still before Him. As you begin to focus your heart towards the Lord, breathe in deeply, slowly letting it out.
If your mind wanders, silently pray a simple prayer again and again, such as, "I surrender to your love" or "Jesus, son of David, have mercy on me" until the Holy Spirit gives you a sense of peace and focus.
Reading:
Hebrews 12:24-29 24 .... and to Jesus, the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood, which speaks better than the blood of Abel. 25 See to it that you do not refuse Him who is speaking. For if those did not escape when they refused him who warned them on earth, much less will we escape who turn away from Him who warns from heaven.
26 And His voice shook the earth then, but now He has promised, saying, “Yet once more I will shake not only the earth, but also the heaven.” 27 This expression, “Yet once more,” denotes the removing of those things which can be shaken, as of created things, so that those things which cannot be shaken may remain. 28 Therefore, since we receive a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us show gratitude, by which we may offer to God an acceptable service with reverence and awe; 29 for our God is a consuming fire.
Consider: What ways do you feel shaken in your life presently?
God, open my eyes to see the things I’ve created, and the things I am holding onto that are being shaken, that You want to remove.
Thank you Lord for what you have accomplished on the cross through your bloodshed. Forgive me for the ways I ignore You, Help me to receive Your voice.
Help me receive this Kingdom you are offering me, in the depths of my very being. I invite this new reality to fully take over in my life.
I trust You.
Help me offer you daily the praises and reverence and gratitude that you deserve.
At the end of each session:
Take a moment to thank God for the work He is doing in you.
As you go from this time, may your heart and your mind continue to relate to God, fixing your eyes on Jesus through each step of your day. Amen.
